Chicago Alderman Gets in on the Sue and Settle Racket

Jailbird Jessie sues federal government, says she suffers sleep difficulty and nightmares over handcuffing

26th Ward Alderman Jessie Fuentes is suing the federal government after federal agents dared to handcuff her when she tried to disrupt a Westside hospital emergency room last October.

Fuentes has been in her faux high dudgeon for months after she was detained to stop her from putting patients in danger at the Humboldt Park Hospital during the Trump administration's "Midway Blitz" immigration action last year. And now she has finally made good on her threat to sue the federal government.

"Throughout Operation Midway Blitz, masked federal agents were terrorizing our communities, including using violence against this elected official," Fuentes whined in a Monday statement. "We must stand up for our rights and demand accountability."

The Alderman's suit, filed under the Federal Tort Claims Act, notes that on October 3, 2025, she was alerted to the presence of federal agents in the hospital by a left-wing, extremist, so-called “rapid response” group which stalks ICE agents to out their positions to other dangerous, violent, anti-American, Marxists, so the agents can be harassed and attacked.

Video of the incident shows Fuentes interrupting the federal agents and demanding to see a warrant for their efforts that day. Fuentes was ushered outside the hospital and told she would be arrested if she continued to illegally disrupt the federal agents, Block Club Chicago reported.

Naturally, she kept at it with dreams of national TV exposure dancing in her eyes.

After the incident, Fuentes tried to capitalize on her illicit activities for her personal political benefit.

"They are not operating with signed judicial warrants. These federal agents are just picking day laborers and construction workers up in parking lots at Home Depots and Menards. We are watching individuals being chased and not at all asked what their name is, where they live or if they have an ID. People are being physically harmed. These individuals are operating recklessly," Fuentes told media.

"By filing this lawsuit, Ald. Fuentes is showing her community and her constituency the importance of standing up and holding accountable a government whose agents act as if they are above the law," said Fuentes' attorney, Jan Susler of the People’s Law Office.

The agents were at the hospital to take an illegal migrant into custody who had broken his leg trying to escape arrest. Their actions were completely legal. They were also out of Fuentes' jurisdiction because they are federal agents, not locals.

Naturally this is all part of Fuentes' desperate act for national attention. But it is also a grab for the cash — her lawsuit is demanding $100,000 in damages.

After all, Chicago has a long history of handing over millions in nuisance lawsuits to cash grabbers. She likely expects a quick win and a big payday. Fuentes will likely end up disappointed.
