The CTU's ideological extremism cannot be ignored
The Chicago Teachers Union has once again proven that it is about radical, leftist revolution and not anything approaching educating our children with its latest stunt in support of an Iran-supporting, pro-Hamas terrorist, Israel-hating, communist event that called for sabotaging America's sea ports among other revolutionary acts.
It almost sounds like a joke, doesn't it? Why is the radical, left-wing "teachers" union jumping in to support an event for Marxists trying to take down and destroy the United States? What possible reason could a putative American education union have for helping an organization that wants to destroy our country?
There is a bigger question, here, and it is for Chicago's teachers. Your dues money is going for this traitorous garbage. Do you support this?
The CTU gave its support to the Anti-War Action Network's 2026 conference in Chicago on July 11 and 12. CTU helped with financial support, allowed the conference to be held at its main Chicago headquarters, and even fed the anti-American leftist participants.
On its propaganda pages, AWAN advocates for insurrection and says it aims to "build a country-wide movement of people who will fight against U.S. imperialism in the streets and in the halls of power."
The conference held workshops on protest and media tactics, recruiting sea port workers, illegally tracking weapons shipments, fundraising, coalition building, insinuating themselves with labor unions and community groups in Latin America and Africa, and other sessions, according to the AWAN website.
Again, what does any of this have to do with educating Chicago's kids? And, if this is the garbage the CTU is sponsoring, are they pushing this traitorous nonsense on our children in the classroom, as well?
The CTU went all-in for this thing, too. They even temporarily renamed their rooms after dictators, murderers, and agitators. Just for the conference, rooms were renamed Fidel Castro, Nicolás Maduro, Cilia Flores, Rasmea Odeh, Ibrahim Traoré, and Patrice Lumumba, among other radical rebrandings.
Just as bad, the CTU decorated the main podium with the Muslim terrorist colors of the Palestinian flag. They also invited the U.S. Palestinian Community Network to participate.
Along with the Hamas terror supporters, other participating organizations included the Freedom Road Socialist Organization, Anti-War Committee Chicago, the Chicago Alliance Against Racism and Political Repression, and the Committee to Stop FBI Repression.
During the event, resolutions called for ending U.S. aid to Israel, supporting boycott, divestment and sanctions (BDS) against Israel, and expanding pro-Palestinian activism. One resolution even called the Iranian government "anti-imperialist" and pledged support for Iranian sovereignty, Fox News reported.
The speakers were just as radical as you'd expect.
One speaker, Ryan Delaney, chair of communications for Jacksonville Palestine Solidarity Network, told the audience, "We are all here to toughen our knuckles. I hope that everybody leaves here ready to fight when they get home," the Washington Free Beacon reported.
Another, Sara Flounders, a member of the Secretariat of the Marxist-Leninist Workers World Party, screamed from the podium and called for violence in the streets here at home, and said, "the enemy is at home. … Change doesn't ask for permission. It'll be violent. It'll be stormy. It'll be unpredictable."
She also beamed at the crowd and praised them as "a really militant, determined group."
For his part, Muslim terror supporter Hatem Abudayyeh crowed to conference goers that "The U.S. is losing" and radical Islam is winning. He also praised Iran as the "principled resistance" that is defending "the people."
The above is a small fraction of the subversive, dangerous, unhinged, anti-Americanism that went on during this CTU-sponsored event.
Yes, all this was sponsored by a union that is supposed to be dedicated to teaching children in Chicago. All this was paid for by the very teachers who have paid their dues to this anti-American -- indeed, this anti-human -- union.
There is a way to fix this monumental error. And that power is in the hands of Chicago's teachers. If there is any "rising up" that needs to be done, if there is any "revolution" that needs to be conducted, it is in the hands of Chicago's teachers. It is long past time that good-hearted, serious educators rise up to depose the terrorists who are running their union.
So, the question remains: Where ARE Chicago's teachers?
