White House Censures Chicago Mayor over Latest Push for Reparations

In an election year stunt, Mayor Brandon Johnson revives talk of reparations
Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson is once again beating the drum to throw millions of tax dollars at reparations for slavery; and President Donald Trump is appalled the mayor is more worried about pandering over reparations than he is in putting an end to the weekly murder rate his city suffers.
Johnson signed another one of his infamous executive orders earlier this year to establish a "task force" to "study and examination of all policies that have harmed Black Chicagoans from the slavery era to present day."
Before that, in March, the pandering mayor launched what he called "Repair Chicago," which he claimed is a "citywide community engagement effort to explore the impacts of systemic discrimination while gathering personal testimonials and resident feedback to inform the Mayor’s Reparations Study."
Johnson also came up with a brand new and uber woke phrase to use to describe slavery. He absurdly called modern black citizens of his city the "descendants of the formerly enslaved."
The mayor deployed his cute little catch phrase after the president took aim at Johnson for ignoring crime while playing his favorite pandering games.
"Chicago is suffering an unprecedented and particularly violent crime wave that is getting worse by the day," Trump posted on Truth Social Oct. 6. "The Federal Government can extinguish it quickly and completely, but the Mayor of Chicago, or the Governor of Illinois, must ask for our help. What is wrong with them? Why aren’t they asking? TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE!"

The White House also added that spending tax money based on race in unconstitutional.
"Government programs that dole out money based on race are illegal," a White House spokesperson told Fox News. "Chicago would be better served if Mayor Johnson focused more on lowering his city’s homicide rate instead of advocating for divisive, unconstitutional government action."
But Johnson struck back while deploying his little catch phrase.
"He's so sorry. It's real pathetic, right, because it's so disingenuous," Johnson said, according to Fox News. "This is the president who just released the largest upward transfer of wealth into the hands of the ultrarich at the expense of the demands of those of us who are descendants of the formerly enslaved."
"The largest upward transfer of wealth at the expense of education, housing, health care, transportation, good-paying jobs, which literally were all the demands of the formerly enslaved."
Johnson went on to whine that Trump has cut some federal funding that Chicago and Illinois enjoyed under Biden. He particularly wrung his hands over the cut in ATF funds he claims Chicago used to hunt down illegal guns.
"He cut the ATF budget by 30 percent. My local police department has worked in tandem with the ATF to get illegal weapons off the streets of Chicago. This year alone, we have removed almost 9,000 illegal weapons off the street," he complained.
Of course, Johnson has spent his entire time in office attacking Trump and calling him every vile name in the book. One wonders how Johnson expects Trump to keep bending over for Johnson's verbal barrages without replying in some way.
The Trump administration is also moving in another area. The Department of Justice has announced it intends to file suit against any jurisdiction that moves forward with paying reparations for slavery. Assistant Attorney General Harmeet K. Dhillon of the DOJ’s Civil Rights Division has blasted Democrats for the plan calling it "virtue signaling" to win votes.
But Trump is right, of course. Reparations for slavery is all just pandering. Firstly, it’ll never happen. But the whole issue is just another way that Brandon Johnson can keep stirring hatred among the black community.
